Book 24 – Soapy Business by John Solomon

Another charity shop purchase, but this one was a thousand times more pleasurable to read than my previous entry. Soapy Business is the memoir of a Proctor and Gamble travelling salesman working in North East England in the 1950s. He gives us a fair few amusing anecdotes, writes engagingly and the period detail from an era long gone (of which I have the faintest traces of memory) is nicely done. I was particularly taken with the tale of the “Stanley Terrible Twins”.
